The invention relates to a device for picking up excrement and/or other objects. The device enables the object to be picked up without the user coming into contact therewith. The inventive device comprises two shovels (1) which are closer under the action of springs (5). Each of said shovels (1) is equipped with a handle (2, 19), such that, when the user moves said handles (2, 19) closer to one another, the force of the springs (5) is overcome and the shovels (1) are opened in to perform the corresponding pick-up operation.
