Provided is an elevator rope socketing device including a rope grasping member for grasping a rope and a grasping member displacing device for displacing the rope grasping member away from a socket. The grasping member displacing device has a screw rod threadedly engaged with the rope grasping member. The screw rod is displaced with respect to the rope grasping member by being turned. The screw rod displaced with respect to the rope grasping member is received by the socket, whereby the rope grasping member is displaced away from the socket. A terminal portion of the rope is drawn into a rope passing hole provided in the socket through the displacement of the rope grasping member away from the socket.
